Equity in the Context of Informing Health Policy: Concepts from Diverse Academic Disciplines

- To understand several academic conceptualizations of equity
- To recognize how varying concepts of equity inform what gets measured and valued when assessing equity in health policies
- To consider whether there is a meaningful distinction between health and social equity
- To appreciate the role of health impact assessment tools, equity-focused economic evaluations and fair deliberative processes for informing equity considerations in health policy decisions.
The Masterclass is open to everyone interested in health policy and equity. No prior training, academic background or work experience is necessary. The class will be taught at an introductory level. Space is limited so potential participants are encouraged to register early.

Title: Enhancing evidence infrastructure to inform policy: Learning from international experience
Theme: Our Symposium focused on learning from international exemplars that have similar or overlapping mandates to Converge3 regarding their approach to evidence-informed policy. We discussed the nature of their relationships with policy-makers, researchers, and the public, and explored the key challenges and opportunities and the areas where they’ve had the most success and impact.
